I witnessed first-hand the caliber of talent that resulted from the Fields Institute program. The program’s ability to qualify new talent and connect candidates that have the right foundational skills and experience to employers particularly impressed me. I believe that the Fields Institute approach and program is unique, results-oriented and urgently needed by more companies across Canada.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be available full-time to participate?

In Spring 2023 we introduced a new part-time format that is ideal for participants who work and/or are completing concurrent studies.

Classes are held in the evenings and during weekends.

Can I take part in the program if I’m still completing studies at other institutions?

The goal of the program is to place graduates into high-demand cybersecurity roles once the program ends. If your ongoing studies require several months or more to complete, we recommend you apply to a future cohort.

We run numerous programs each year, so don’t worry if you miss the window for one.

What type of job search support do you provide?

Cyber Connexion incorporates soft skills training to prepare you to enter the workforce. This training includes 1:1 coaching, résumé and cover letter review, interview preparation, LinkedIn coaching and more. We also provide the opportunity to connect with industry professionals and hiring managers through networking events, panel discussions and guest speaker sessions.

What is the post-program job offer rate?

For program grads who have actively pursued a career in cybersecurity, the job placement rate is 80%.

Our alumni are currently working in roles at KPMG, Mercedes-Benz, Deloitte, CertiK, Arctic Wolf, the Herjavec Group and eSentire.

Are there hardware or software requirements?

Participants who enroll in the virtual program are required to have a properly configured system to take part.

A laptop or desktop computer (no iPads or tablets) with a microphone and camera is essential, and it must meet the following requirements:
• Operating System: Latest version of Windows 10, MacOS 10.15.x Catalina or later.
• CPU: 64-bit Intel i5 or greater, 2.0+ GHz processor.
• RAM: 8 GB RAM (or more) is highly recommended for the best experience.
• Stable internet connection capable of supporting video-conferencing.

Participants receiving support from programs such as Better Jobs Ontario may be eligible for financial assistance for supplies and electronics devices.

How much reading and work material is there?

You can expect 10 hours of team or individual work outside of class hours each week.

Are there any tests, exams or certifications?

There are no exams in the program; however, there are weekly assessments to help chart progress. We issue an official certificate after successful completion.

Post-program we provide a pathway to CompTIA Security+, CSA’s Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge and AWS Cloud.

What is the cost of the program?

The program has been valued at $12,000 CAD. For a limited time, we are offering the program at a reduced cost of $5,500 CAD.

This fee includes the many events, activities, facilitators and partners who actively participate in building and running the program. The program value is comparable to the price of many other types of accelerated cybersecurity training programs in Canada.

Which payment options are available?

We offer a range of payment options. You may make a payment through your banking institution by pre-authorized debit or using your credit card. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Debit Mastercard or Visa Debit.

Upon acceptance into the program, you will be required to pay a 10% deposit to reserve your place.

Are there additional subsidies or scholarships available?

Scholarships and subsidies are currently unavailable through the program.

However, in collaboration with Scotiabank, Cyber Connexion is proud to offer a NEW Student Lending Program known as the ScotiaLine Personal Line of Credit for Students.

Additionally, we encourage you to research government-funded initiatives such as Better Jobs Ontario and the Education and Training Benefit, which can help support you in your learning journey.

Cyber Connexion students who are employed may have access to an educational budget as well for upskilling and reskilling through their organization.
