Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be available full-time to participate?

We introduced a new part-time format that is ideal for participants who work and/or are completing concurrent studies. Classes are held in the evenings and during weekends.

Can I take part in the program if I’m still completing studies at other institutions?

The goal of the program is to place graduates into high-demand cybersecurity roles once the program ends. If your ongoing studies require several months or more to complete, we recommend you apply to a future cohort. 

We run numerous programs each year, so don’t worry if you miss the window for one.

What type of job search support do you provide?

Cyber Connexion dedicates over 25 hours of soft skills training aimed at preparing you to enter the workforce as a cybersecurity professional. This training includes 1:1 coaching, résumé and cover letter review, interview preparation, LinkedIn coaching and more. 

We also facilitate networking events, panel discussions and guest speaker sessions to help you connect with industry professionals and hiring managers.

What is the post-program job offer rate?

For program grads who have actively pursued a career in cybersecurity.

Our alumni are currently working in roles at eSentire, IBM, BDO, KPMG, Deloitte, CertiK, Arctic Wolf, Difenda and CaseIQ.

Are there hardware or software requirements?

Participants who enroll in the virtual program are required to have a properly configured system to take part.

A laptop or desktop computer (no iPads or tablets) with a microphone and camera is essential, and it must meet the following requirements:
• Operating System: Latest version of Windows 10, MacOS 10.15.x Catalina or later.
• CPU: 64-bit Intel i5 or greater, 2.0+ GHz processor.
• RAM: 8 GB RAM (or more) is highly recommended for the best experience.
• Stable internet connection capable of supporting video-conferencing.

If you do not have the required resources, we can provide cloud-based resources for you at no cost.

I took the Google Cybersecurity Certificate. Should I take this program?

Yes, we cover additional modules along with other open source and enterprise software, but more importantly, we help you rebuild your resume along with job coaching and introduce you to employers through employer hiring events, guest speakers and 1:1 mentorship.

What Cybersecurity tools will I learn?

Tenable Vulnerability Management tools, Kali Linux, Wireshark, CyberArk Privileged Access Management, Duo MFA, OpenSSL, IDS, IPS, SIEM etc, and other networking and defensive tools.

How much work outside of class hours is there?

For our full time program: You can expect 10 hours of team or individual work outside of class hours each week.

For our part time program: You can expect 5 hours of team or individual work outside of class hours each week.

Are there any tests, exams or certifications?

There are no exams in the program; however, there are assessments after each module to help chart progress.

We issue an official certificate after successful completion.

Successful students leave this course with a pathway to CompTIA Security+ certification credit, additionally our program provides a certification pathway to AWS Cloud security certifications after the program training is completed.

What is the cost of the program?

The program has been valued at $12,000 CAD. With support from our partners, we can offer the program at a reduced cost of $5,500 CAD.

This fee includes cybersecurity industry expert instructors, labs, cloud resources, course material, industry guest speakers, mentorship, 1:1 career coaching, résumé writing and presentation and job search support. The program value is comparable to the price of many other types of intensive cybersecurity training programs in Canada.

Which payment options are available?

We offer a range of payment options. You may make a payment through your banking institution by pre-authorized debit or using your credit card. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Debit Mastercard or Visa Debit.

Upon acceptance into the program, you will be required to pay a 10% deposit to reserve your place.

Are there additional subsidies or scholarships available?

Lending Program: In collaboration with Scotiabank, Cyber Connexion is proud to offer a Student Lending Program known as the ScotiaLine Personal Line of Credit for Students.

Through Current Employer: Cyber Connexion students who are employed may have access to an educational budget for upskilling and reskilling through their current employer.

Alumni referral: We offer our alumni a $100.00 referral bonus to those they recommend who register for our program.

Accessibility: Cyber Connexion is delivered online. We provide closed captioning and video recordings for all classes. We provide cloud services to those who need it.

Please take our TryHackMe assessment for starters. It’s a great option to see your aptitude for this kind of material that we cover within the program.
